What an amazing day of planting, cleaning, and gardening! Students learned about ways to use baking soda and vinegar as cleaning supplies instead of harmful chemicals. They cleaned up our school grounds and Hamilton Run. Our raised garden beds and our wetlands have many new plants that are looking amazing.
The work the students have completed is fantastic but none of this would have been possible without the help from our many volunteers. We would like to thank everyone that was involved: Antietam Tree and Turf, William G. Bowen, Chesapeake Wildlife Heritage, Mr. Egger and the other volunteers from the Navy, Rentals Unlimited, The Home Depot, Hicksville Planing Mill, the O'Farrell family, Mrs. Ghattas, Mr. Karkan, and all of the other volunteers that helped to make our day a success.

On Wednesday, April 22nd, we will be spending some time outside to celebrate Earth Day.
Students in grades 3-5 will be planting in the Wetlands, spreading mulch paths, and cleaning up areas of the school grounds.
Students in grades K-2 will be filling in raised garden beds, planting vegetables that our Gardening Academy has started growing, and cleaning up the school grounds.
All classes will have the option to participate in a Green Clean station, where students will learn about alternative cleaning supplies that do not use harmful chemicals.
We will lots to do and would love to have volunteers if you are available.
Check back soon for more details and a schedule of what time each class will be outside.
